Common eBike problems and solutions

by Storm_Captain4 days ago

Hey everyone!

I've been riding my Aventon Aventure 2 for about six months now, mostly on paved trails and some light gravel, racking up around 800 miles. I'm curious what common issues you all have encountered with your eBikes, especially those of you who like to tinker and DIY. Have you faced anything like motor cutouts, battery degradation, or display glitches, and what solutions did you find that didn't involve a trip to the shop? I'm always looking for ways to be more self-sufficient with maintenance and repairs!

Hey there! Great topic, always good to be self-sufficient. I've definitely dealt with motor cutouts on my older ebike, which often turned out to be loose connections at the motor or controller – a quick check and reseating usually fixed it. For display glitches, sometimes a full power cycle (removing the battery for a minute) can reset things, or even just checking the display cable connection. Good luck with your Aventure 2!

Hey there! Great topic. With my DIY builds and older Bafang-powered bike, I've definitely seen my share of display glitches and motor cutouts, often linked to loose or corroded connectors. A good clean with electrical contact cleaner and a dab of dielectric grease on all accessible connections (especially motor, battery, and display) has fixed most of those for me without needing new parts. Also, checking spoke tension regularly on the rear wheel is a quick DIY win to prevent bigger issues down the line.

Hey there! Great topic. With my Bafang-powered fat bike, I've definitely dealt with occasional motor cutouts, usually traced back to loose connections at the controller or motor cable – a quick check and reseat often fixes it. Also, display glitches can sometimes be resolved with a simple battery removal/reinsertion to force a full system reset, which is a good first step before digging deeper.
