New to eBikes - where to start?

by LightDriver951 day ago

Hey everyone!

I'm totally new to the eBike world and honestly, a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there. I'm looking to get into eBiking for daily commuting (about 10 miles round trip on mostly paved roads, some small hills) and maybe some light weekend trail riding. What are the absolute must-knows for a beginner, and what kind of eBike should I even be looking at to start? Any advice on brands, motor types, or things to avoid would be amazing!

Welcome to the eBike world! For your commute and light trails, a "hybrid" or "trekking" style eBike with a mid-drive motor would be a fantastic starting point – they offer a great balance of comfort, power for hills, and efficiency. I'd definitely recommend test riding a few different brands like Specialized, Trek, or even something like a Rad Power Bikes RadCity to see what feels best for you. Don't get too caught up in the specs initially, just focus on what feels fun and comfortable!

Welcome to the eBike world, it's a fantastic journey! For your 10-mile commute and light trail riding, a "hybrid" or "all-terrain" eBike with a mid-drive motor would be a great starting point – they handle hills and varied terrain really well. Brands like Specialized, Trek, or even Rad Power Bikes offer solid options that balance commuting and light trail capabilities without breaking the bank. Definitely prioritize a good local bike shop for support, as maintenance is key!
