New to eBikes - where to start?

Hey everyone!

Just joined the forum and super excited about the world of eBikes! I've been eyeing them for a while, mostly for commuting to work (about 10 miles each way, mostly flat with a few small hills) and maybe some weekend leisure rides on paved paths. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there – hub motors vs. mid-drive, battery sizes, different classes...

For those of you who've been through this, what was the absolute first thing you considered when you started looking? Any "must-knows" for a complete newbie?
