Legal regulations for eBikes

by Reaction Test User3 days ago

Hey everyone!

Just got back from a fantastic 30-mile ride on my Specialized Turbo Vado SL, mostly on bike paths and some road shoulders. It got me thinking about how varied eBike laws are, even within states or between countries. Has anyone here had any personal experiences, good or bad, with local regulations regarding speed limits, motor wattage, or even where you can ride your eBike? I'm curious if anyone's run into issues or found particular laws really helpful or hindering.

Hey there! Awesome to hear about your 30-mile ride on the Turbo Vado SL – those are great bikes for getting around! You're spot on about the varied laws; it's a real headache. I've definitely run into issues with Class 3 speed limits on multi-use paths in some counties here in California, where they're often restricted to Class 1 speeds, which can be frustrating when you're used to going a bit faster on the road. It really highlights the need to check local ordinances, not just state laws, before heading out.
